Meat Patties are like burgers and an all time favourite with children.  These patties have a combination of several ingredients like fish paste, minced meat and a few vegetables like waterchestnuts, cabbage and carrots.  A good way to get children to eat vegetables without noticing them.
These patties are easy and worthy to prepare cos' they are awesome serve with mayo dip or just tomato and chilli sauce.  The patties are soft, chewy and rich in proteins. Really nice.
They need not be deep fried but easily done by pan-fry which does not require much oil.
Recipe adapted from Yum Yum Magazine No. 102 with modifications
200 gm fish paste
200 gm minced meat
3 water chestnuts - skinned and chopped
3 tbsp chopped red carrot
1 cabbage leaf - chopped
1 stalk spring onions - chopped
Enough oil to pan fry patties
1 tsp sesame oil
1/4 tbsp salt to taste
1 tsp chicken stock granules
1 tbsp cornstarch

  1. Combine all the ingredients in and mixing bowl.  Add in seasoning and mix well.  Stir in one direction until paste is very sticky.
  2. Divide into 12 equal portions.  Form into balls and flatten into patties.
  3. Pan fry the patties in a non-stick wok until golden brown or cooked through.
  4. Dish up and drain. Serve with some salad leaves.

Oh Yummm! Looks delicious, wrong timing to look at your post right now as it's lunchtime and I'm famished. Must try out your recipe once I got my hands on all the ingredients. Cheers

Kimmy, this is a very well balance pattie with meat and vegetables combined. Can't say that it is not healthy hee..hee...

Hi Florence, do try it. Once you try patties with home made fish paste, you will love it. You can create other patties with different vege and flavours - spicy or non-spicy.

Hi Phong Hong, this is very addictive, can't stop at one. I can have the whole plate to myself if not for the young girl in the house who loves these patties very much.

These meat patties would be finished very fast if served in my house! Fried patties like this are always a favourite with everyone! Looks really good!

Hi Joyce, fully agreed with you that these are awesome. I can't stop at one cos' these are really yummy and the ingredients are fresh and complete. I will make another batch once I get hold of fresh fish meat from the wet market.

Hi Tea Lady, these don't look very nice but they are really good especially with fresh fish paste. Very tasty that I can snack on them.

Hi Kimmy, can I know what kind of fish you used to make the fish paste? So tempting to make soon. 😄

Hi Mic, for almost all the recipes I tried with fish paste, I will use Spanish Mackerel. It is less bony and easier to make into a paste.
