This cookie recipe was in my must try list for at least a year. As I wasn't baking much cookies this year, I thought it would be much easier baking this simple yet delicious cookie. The original recipe was from Yochana's Cakes Delight and Happy Flour. The ingredients here is 3 portions of the original recipe.
I baked the cookies at 180 degrees C for 15 minutes as I find baking them at 150 degrees for 15-20 minutes yield very soft cookies that breaks easily, mouth sticking and may choke the throat which is dangerous. Baking at 180 degrees C suits me more as I don't like tongue and mouth sticking cookies even though it melts in the mouth. Overall, the cookies tasted good.
For convenience, you can get the ready-mix Green Pea Cookie Premix from the bakery stores, they are also good and each portion makes about 2 plastic containers.

I didn't know green pea flour is made from those crunchy green peas meant for snacks, thanks for the info. I loved the green hue it gives the cookies. I can imagine the wonderful flavour of green peas too. Thanks for sharing Kimmy.
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmy! I am catching up with your postings. I have eaten these green pea cookies and I love it! Very nice tasting but I am too lazy to grind the peas hah! hah! Are the cookie premix good? Just concerned they may not taste as nice.
ReplyDeleteHi Veronica, these green peas by itself are crunchy and nice. I was advised by the lady at the store to grind them myself, very easy. Next time I'll try with peanut cookie recipe and substituting the peanuts with green peas. Hope they are as good.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Phong Hong, my friend baked these cookies using the premix that costs RM8.50 [makes 2 bottles]. I tried, tasted good but doesn't melt in the mouth [maybe is the baking temp and duration].

ReplyDeleteHi Kimmy,
ReplyDeleteI was told that grinding the green peas into powder will have a slightly more crunchy texture. Is it ok if I grind it?
Hi Anonymous, the fried green peas has to be grind till fine before making the dough. It is up to your own preference like when we make peanut cookies. Some people prefer them with a bite/crunchy while some may like is soft, fine and melt in the mouth. I prefer the fine version.
