This dish is quite similar to my mum's recipe [Family Style Sesame Oil Meatballs].  Both are as good.  The difference is my mum's recipe does not have eggs and it is meatballs.  This recipe is a mix of some minced meat and eggs.  So the choice is available.  Should you wish to use less meat then can try this recipe.

For those we love the aroma of the sesame seed oil and ginger, you will enjoy it. Especially suitable for confinement ladies. I love the crispy fried ginger shreds. It is so fragrant and nice blended with the sauce.   A lovely dish, quick cook and delicious to serve with rice or porridge.
[serves 3]
3 eggs - lightly beaten
100 gm minced meat [with some fats]
4-5 tbsp of finely shredded ginger
4-5 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp light soy sauce
1-2 tbsp oyster sauce [can use all light soy sauce]
2 tsp dark soy sauce
3/4 cup water
1 tsp sugar to taste
salt to taste

  1. Combine eggs with minced meat.  Mix well to combine ingredients.
  2. Heat sesame oil in wok to fry ginger until aromatic and slightly crispy.  Remove, set aside as garnishing.
  3. Using the same wok and remaining sesame oil, pour in egg and meat mixture.  Fry until brown on both sides.  Cut into quarters using the wok ladle.
  4. Add in light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar and water.  Bring it to a boil.  Taste to adjust seasoning.  Add salt to taste.
  5. Boil for a further minute.  Add a little more water if you prefer some sauce to serve with rice.  Add in fried crispy ginger shreds.
  6. Dish out on serving plate.  Garnish with fried ginger.  Serves well with rice or porridge.
